365 days in 1 year. 1 year becomes 2. Then, 3. Then, you somehow end up losing track of time to find yourself wistfully living a life you settled into & never chose.
This is what many people open up with to instigate change & get you out of your usual routine. To get you exploring new frontiers.
Why don’t we provide a different perspective instead?
365 days in 1 year. 1 year becomes 2. Then, 3. Then, you somehow end up losing track of time to find yourself consciously choosing how you live your life in the present moment.
You’ve continued to show up and choose what’s best. You’ve taken risks and created a life you couldn’t have imagined.
How do you feel after reading this second one? Empowered. Confident. Awake. Were a few that came to mind.
The former is quite the opposite: Lost. Frustrated. Chained.
The next day you wake up & want a change of scenery. Something to spice up your life & keep things fresh. A new frontier perhaps.
Embodying the former, you feel rushed and excited because it’s something you’ve never done before, whereas embodying the latter feels like it is another new day to live life as your first.
One is frantic. The other is calm.
Enough with these juxtapositions. You get the gist.
So what? Why does this all matter?
There’s a quote from Steve Jobs that speaks to this very message:
“The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller. The storyteller sets the vision, values, and agenda of an entire generation that is to come.”
This is highlighted further with other similar sentiments such as J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter franchise, voicing: “The stories we love best live in us forever” and Barack Obama, former President of the United States, stating: “You can change the world just by sharing your story.”
The storyteller is the choice you have. The narrative you curate.
Earlier we had two different scenarios, and I bet you 9 times out of 10, someone would have said one is better than the other; however, both have their moments depending on what story and scenery you want to write.
That’s the chance for you to choose. The storyteller you have inside yourself. The storyteller who you shall live with through the good days and the bad.
Embrace the experience as you explore this new frontier with them.
